LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dear Members:

Dear Friends: Summer - finally! We endured the death march called 'winter in Chicago' and at long last boats speckle the lake, flowers are in full bloom, and golf season is in full swing! Somehow the stress we have felt as the country's economic crisis has touched each of us in various manners feels slightly less ominous with blue skies and warm temps.

Appreciating that the lovely summer picture doesn't solve all of our problems, your CoreNet Chicago Board has put together a full summer of education opportunities, networking events and a little fun in the sun in the form of the Golf Classic. As you have heard me say, our community needs to come together support each other during these tough times. Our monthly luncheons are being attended by more people - and new faces - than ever before. For our Members in Transition, be sure to come out and connect with our growing community - details on discounted pricing for our events, as well as membership can be found on our website.

Our learning committee has worked hard to put together a half day class in late July on Portfolio Realignment hosted by one of CoreNet Global's most respected instructors and this years' Michael Kaczmarek Award recipient, David Kamen. This in-depth session, followed by networking with over 125 MCR and SLCR candidates from around the country, will add yet another arrow to your quiver. Our Special Event chairs have teed us up at Cantigny and we look forward to a full house during the Golf Classic later this summer. For our Emerging Leaders group, having participated in your last mentorship session, I'm looking forward to attending - and learning - from the next group of talented individuals you have assembled!

As you can see, your Board is hard at work providing you the tools, the network and the community needed to excel at your job. That said - tell us what is missing. If you have ideas, suggestions, criticisms please tell me. On a personal note, this organization has been here for me during my entire career - the good and the trying times, and I have gotten from it what I have put into it - but we all want more, because we are being asked to do more. So, please, if there is an idea or concept we should take a look at, email me at spater@tribune.com. If you want to get further involved with our community, first and foremost, be present - attend our events - but also let me or anyone on our Board know what committee might be a great fit for you. We are always in need of more helping hands!!!

On a parting, and personal, note, I want to say thank you! To you - our community - for helping make my job substantially easier; to our Board members who work diligently to bring to us the tools and network that we all need; and to my partners that have helped me (and my employer) over the last several trying months - you know who you are and I thank you!

Best - and see you soon, and often!
